U.S.A. – August 10, 2018 – The Landing of Canton in Canton, OH, a Meridian Senior Living assisted living and memory care community, has achieved a deficiency-free annual survey in August 2018 as administered by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH).
“I was ecstatic to hear the news. Our amazing staff works so hard and we pride ourselves in providing excellent care, attention to detail, and unparalleled customer service to our residents and families,” expressed The Landing of Canton’s Community Sales Director Michelle Clapper. “I feel that our use of teamwork and communication amongst all of our staff plays a key role in the quality of care we provide on a daily basis. We are a small community and treat everyone like family. So if there is a small issue, we all work together to solve and stop it before it becomes a problem.”
In order for an assisted living community to achieve a deficiency-free survey, all services provided at the facility must meet or exceed all state and federal standards. A deficiency-free survey in Ohio’s rigorous inspection is uncommon and a key indicator of excellence for an assisted living community. According to ODH’s 2015 data report (most recent available), approximately 122 facilities were deficiency-free, representing about 12% of Ohio senior communities.
Assisted living communities are inspected every nine to 15 months to evaluate services and systems in place. In a multi-day process, inspectors arrive unannounced to conduct interviews, inspect the physical building, observe the operations and check records. Surveyors determine compliance with regulations governing areas including quality of care, quality of service, safety, residents’ rights and confidentiality. The assisted living community is awarded a “deficiency-free” survey when all of these regulations are met.
At The Landings of Canton, receiving an excellent state survey means that seniors can expect the highest level of care in a prime environment, which is important when selecting a senior living community. For more information about The Landings of Canton, visit http://www.meridiansenior.com/canton.
