Meridian Senior Living Captures Stories of Love with #HowIProposed Facebook Campaign in February for Valentine’s Day
BETHESDA, MD – A lively senior couple, Wes and Betty sit on a love seat holding hands and laughing while Betty is proudly showcasing a beautifully framed wedding portrait that brings back sweet memories of a special day. This couple has been married for 64 years and have shared their touching story of engagement on the Villas of Hollybrook Chatham Facebook page. Wes surprised Betty with a box that appeared to be carrying roses, however instead there was a large stuffed rabbit holding a box with a ring in it. Shocked and speechless, Betty paused at first and then said “yes!”. Love is in the air at Meridian Senior Living (Meridian) communities. In honor of Valentine’s Day, Meridian is celebrating the unique past and passions of their residents’ lives by capturing their personalized stories of their marriage proposals and sharing them on Facebook during the month of February.
With 100% participation, over 70 Meridian communities are posting photos, stories, and videos of their residents sharing heart melting stories of how they proposed or were proposed to on #HowIProposed and #MeridianLove. These amazing stories of finding forever love are a vital part of Meridian’s philosophy not only to celebrate people’s personalized history and interests, but also to infuse into every community, every interaction, and every moment the kind of energy, compassion, and delight that comes from a foundation of committed and passionate people.
“Meridian Senior Living is ecstatic to elevate and share the amazing love stories of our residents across its more than 70 communities across the U.S.”, says Kevin Carlin, Principal and Chief Sales Officer. “Embracing the rich histories of our residents enhances us to live our mission: ‘We enrich the lives of our residents, families and employees through extraordinary experiences … because Everyone Deserves A Great Life!’”
Brace yourself and visit #HowIProposed and #MeridianLove on Facebook to feel your heart go pitter patter from seeing all of the incredible approaches that residents have popped the question. One account is told by Peggy, a Lake Morton Plaza resident in Lakeland, FL. She was married for 63 ½ years to her late husband Harold. Peggy met Harold on a blind and double date with her friend where they switched dates, because her friend was too tall for Harold. On the night he proposed to her, he promised her a ring the next day on the condition that she would caddy his golf game. It was certainly true love as Peggy caddied nine holes of golf for Harold the next day. A great start to a beautiful marriage. See her story here: https://msl.life/LMP_Love.
Married 70 years, Bill and Jackie, residents of Eastlake Terrace in Elkhart, IN, share how Bill popped the question. Jackie giggles and replies “Oh Bill” when he says that she wore him down and that she even picked out her ring before he proposed. Right after Jackie’s 18th birthday, Bill did ask Jackie to marry him at her parent’s house. See their story of courtship here: https://msl.life/EastlakeLove
Jean and her husband Terry, residents of Meadow Gardens of Menlo Park in Menlo, CA, had a whirlwind romance. They met at San Jose State while taking a class in Death Valley together. After the class ended, they hit it off and started dating. Six weeks later they were engaged and then six weeks after that they were married. Meanwhile 64 years later, they are happily married and still enjoy activities together. See their love story here: https://msl.life/MeadowLove.
Only 18 years old, Pete and Jeanie, residents of Legacy Oaks of Sacramento, fell in love at a western dance in Stockton. Head over heels, Pete popped the question during a scenic drive with Jeanie who quickly responded “yes!” as she was so overjoyed and could not wait to be his forever. Two months later they married in Lodi, CA and have been married for 70 years since then. The secret to their marriage success is to have patience and no secrets.
