“My mom has been a resident of Ramsey Woods for the past 5 years. She has gone from a mobile, pacing, feisty lady who spent her day waiting for her ride & scheming to escape to a sometimes sleepy lady with an attitude, who now spends her day in a wheelchair. In those early days distraction & capabilities. However, through it all….even getting a wheelchair ordered (no small task for one incredible dedicated front office person), that staff have just individualized their strategies. The constants: the love, patience, and care. The staff are the heart and soul in making Ramsey Woods what it is..a home for my mom and all the residents. These features are the things that in a constantly changing world for the residents is dependable and comforting. This IS the IT that it not only important for the residents, but crucial when having to leave mom in the care of others. There are the cooks who prepare meals that are so loved, cleaning staff who share their smiles and keep the place spic and span (to see and smell), the activities staff that create new ways to keep the residents engaged, to the day to day staff that hustle their butts off all day to keep up with giving their love in endless ways. I tell whoever listens to me about the angels at Ramsey Woods! My mom still attends church, exercises, bowls, goes out to trips, plays bingo, does art therapy, has her cocktails, and watches the birds…just to name a few things! Quite a list for someone who’s 95 years old! However, I know that if I am there or not they are tapping into her inner self. My mom is not existing, she is living. She would never have enjoyed these things and seen 95 years without the ongoing care from the staff at Ramsey Woods.”

“When mom moved into Ramsey Woods in Oct 2014 we, are her family, were worried. She was moving from an assisted living center that had not cared for her well & we wondered how we could trust another group of strangers to care for her needs when she could no longer effectively direct her own care & they hadn’t the benefit of knowing her as the person that she always was before her illness.
It didn’t take long before we could see that Ramsey Woods was different. Mom quickly became comfortable in her new setting. She trusted her caregivers & we saw she was treated with respect in all aspects of care. Staff stability & their willingness to listen to family direction about our mom’s needs & preferences made development of an individualized & evolving plan of care possible. Program silving was done as a cooperative effort between family who knew her best & key experienced & knowledge members of the staff.
My mom had 12 children & our very large family was encouraged to remain as involved in her care as we were comfortable. We always felt welcome during our daily visits & were invited to join in the activities of the day right along with mom.
Inevitably there are regrets when it comes to care of aging parents. The biggest one for us, of course, was not being able to care for mom in her own home. Our second, was not finding Ramsey Woods sooner.”

“Early one evening my two sons picked me up to go out for dinner. When they arrived they informed me they had looked at a really nice place for seniors to live. Was I surprised? Yes, although unknown to them I had begun to realize it was time to consider assisted living. Now when I agreed to the visit, they were pleasantly surprised, & a meeting at Ramsey Woods was arranged. Besides touring the building of all the rooms, two ladies who worked in the kitchen came out. They were friendly and already knew I liked to cook. Their enthusiasm & smiles impressed me into thinking “these people like working here.” This observation was a deciding factor in my decision to become a resident. I found the caregivers make an effort to make me comfortable as they consider my needs. They share a friendly smile. Knowing their willingness to set my fair after a shower is a big plus. By the way, when I saw the cleaning lady wipe the guard rails people use, told me “this place is clean.” So, in closing, 2 years and 9 months later I am thankful my sons introduced me to Ramsey Woods.”
