Meridian Senior Living has partnered with a major U.S. based testing laboratory to procure a large supply of COVID-19 tests that will allow for more frequent testing of symptomatic residents and staff, and decreased quarantine time frames for new admissions.
“Our collaboration with the lab and the appointment of our Medical Director is a vital pivot point in our reopening strategy. We now have the resources and medical expertise to routinely test,” says Kacy Kang, President and Chief Operating Officer of Meridian Senior Living. “This is an extension of our ongoing commitment to keep our communities as safe as possible, while decreasing the risk of issues that arise from long periods of isolation, both with our residents and seniors in the towns and cities in which we operate.”
In addition to the testing that may be required by local or state health authorities, we want to ensure that we have other tests at our disposal to align with our own operational goals to reopen communities safely and in a phased approach.
In most cases, the new tests will allow for new admissions to quarantine for less time once admitted to the community, with multiple negative tests required to decrease their quarantine time from the previously enforced 14 days.
“We don’t want the 14-day quarantine to deter someone who could benefit from our communities,” said Kevin Carlin, Principal and Chief Sales Officer of Meridian Senior Living. “Our new policy is strict and thorough to keep our communities safe while welcoming new residents who need us.”
