Sunlit Gardens Launches Reflections Program for Early-Stage Alzheimer's Residents

Sunlit Gardens is pleased to announce the launch of its new Reflections program, designed specifically to benefit seniors with early-stage Alzheimer's disease. This program is tailored to improve the quality of life for seniors who are experiencing early memory loss and are not yet ready for a memory care environment.

"At Sunlit Gardens, our commitment to providing exceptional care for our memory care residents is unwavering,” said Aileen Gaddi, Memory Care Program Director, Sunlit Gardens. “I’m excited to introduce the Reflections program to our residents with early-stage Alzheimer's. With a focus on group activities that promote independence, problem-solving, and overall well-being, we are confident that the program will make a significant positive impact on the lives of our residents."

The Reflections program is uniquely designed to cater to the needs of seniors with early-stage memory loss. Residents are evaluated to determine if they meet the criteria for the program, which includes exhibiting regular memory loss, social withdrawal, staying in one place most of the day, depression, and the need for frequent cueing and reminders.

The Reflections program aims to stimulate and exercise both hemispheres of the brain with specialized programming that encourages novel and complex thinking. The program offers a variety of group activities that promote problem-solving and independence, such as intergenerational programs, clubs and organizations, cultural field trips, sensory stimulation, cooking classes, health and wellness activities, life skills, community volunteering and outreach, Qigong, continuing education, and international programming.

Participating in the Reflections program offers seniors a sense of purpose, routine, and well-being. Community outreach and life skills tasks provide a sense of accomplishment and an opportunity to contribute to the overall daily needs of the Reflections program. The Memories with the Arts activities are particularly important for the health and wellness of seniors, offering benefits such as relaxation, increased self-esteem, socialization, improved cognition, sensory stimulation, and reduced hospital stays.

At Sunlit Gardens Assisted Living and Memory Care, we are committed to providing our residents with the highest quality of life possible. Our new Reflections program is just one example of our dedication to creating personalized care plans that cater to the unique needs of each individual resident. We are excited to offer this program to seniors in our community and look forward to seeing the positive impact it has on their lives.
