Cypress Place Senior Living celebrated the amazing accomplishments of their first graduating interns as part of the PathPoint® Project SEARCH Program (PathPoint Project) by hosting a graduation ceremony on December 23, 2021.
The PathPoint Project SEARCH is a school-to-work professional internship program for people with disabilities who obtain exposure to various career fields, on the job training, and classroom education and support in the workplace. The focus of the PathPoint program is not only on strengthening job-specific proficiencies but also problem-solving and communication abilities so that young adults with disabilities can attain their hopes and dreams in leading independent lives. The PathPoint internships are paid positions as funded by the Tri-Counties Regional Center.
“Having our first interns from the Pathpoint Project SEARCH program has made a difference through their ability to help others here,” said Gina Salman, Cypress Place Senior Living Executive Director. “We realized that all three of our interns were consistently learning to think positively and not be afraid of change.”
This first graduating class of the PathPoint Project interns at Cypress Place encompassed three interns who served as Services Attendant in the Dining Department; Laundry Attendant in the Housekeeping Department; and Janitorial/Housekeeping Assistant in the Housekeeping Department.
“This is the first year that Cypress Place Senior Living has been involved with the PathPoint Project SEARCH Program,” according to Salman. “We were initially referred to the program by our sister community, Regency Palms Oxnard. We would encourage others to get involved in this program by contacting PathPoint directly and asking if they need interns who are the right fit for your organization. Many of these interns have specific skills that they are interested in gaining experience in.”
Mike Macke, Community Relations Director at Cypress Place Senior Living said, “Cypress Place Senior Living is a premier senior community in Ventura County. The beautiful senior living campus features an Independent Senior Living community and an adjacent Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s/Dementia Care community connected by a lushly landscaped courtyard.”
